Our journey

2019 The beginning

Founded from a long-held ambition to design and build innovative subsea technology, SubTech Robotics was originally established as SeAir Systems Ltd. The company began with the acquisition of an ROV system, with the aim of providing cost-effective ROV inspection services while developing practical, reliable subsea tooling. From the outset, the primary aim was not only to design and build real-world subsea technology, but also to bring the higher standards and professionalism typically seen offshore into the local subsea market.

2020 Entering the Field

SubTech Robotics began actively offering ROV inspection services, undertaking projects across local lochs, fisheries, fish farms, and quarries. Working with a wide range of clients, including Historic Scotland, this stage established the company’s presence in the inspection market and reinforced its commitment to professional, reliable service delivery.

2022 Into the Open

In 2022, SubTech Robotics successfully completed its first project offshore , marking a key milestone in the company’s development. This transition demonstrated the capability to deliver reliable inspection services beyond inland and nearshore environments, applying the same high standards and professionalism in offshore conditions.

2022 From Operations to Engineering

As operational experience grew, SubTech Robotics became increasingly involved in the design and commissioning of ROV tooling and products. Lessons learned from previous inspection and service workscopes provided valuable insight, allowing real operational knowledge to be carried directly into the design process. This approach ensured tooling was practical, reliable, and built around the realities of subsea work.

2026 The Journey Continues

SubTech Robotics continues to expand its capabilities through the launch of several new ROV products and tooling solutions, while maintaining a strong presence in ROV inspection and service operations. This period reflects a continued commitment to combining practical field experience with product development, ensuring new solutions remain grounded in real operational requirements.
